"I am not in favour of this modern mania for turning bad people into good people at a moment’s notice."

Miss Prism
Shirley Jones

Governess Laetitia Prism is to be played by Shirley Jones who played Quince in last year’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Miss Prism dreamt of becoming a writer of sensational novels but instead had to earn a living tutoring a bored, rich pupil as any chance for romance passed by. A moment’s absent minded distraction by Miss Prism contributes to the tangled plot.

We all know there is a handbag in there somewhere, don’t we?

“It was a privilege to direct etc’s first production back in 2016 and I have had the opportunity to perform in both our Shakespeare productions replacing actors who had to drop out. But for this show I am cast in a delicious role right from the start and it is very exciting,” said Shirley.

Most recently Shirley’s short play The Saltiness of Time was showcased at the MK Art Gallery and at Christmas she helped write the panto Rats! staged at the Open University.

Tickets for the comedy at The Arches are already on sale.
