Nat Gibbard is to play Jack Worthing in etc’s production of the Importance of Being Earnest.
In the hilarious Oscar Wilde comedy of manners Jack is a seemingly responsible and respectable landowner and Justice of the Peace in Hertfordshire, where he has a country estate. He is a pillar of the community but for many years he has pretended to have an irresponsible younger brother named Ernest, whom he is always having to bail out of some mischief. This gives him an excuse to leave the countryside and lead a double life in the city.
Nat said he was drawn to the role of Jack as a confident, erudite and self possessed character. “He is charming, a little self-satisfied, verging on crass. Perhaps a bit of a cad, certainly a man of contradictions,” he added.
Nat has been acting for ten years and had roles in numerous film projects including half a dozen shot during lock-down.
On stage he has worked with Peterborough Mask Theatre, Kettering Jacobite Productions, Leicester Rate Co-Operative Players, and Northampton Masque Theatre and appeared in etc theatre company’s launch production back in 2016 as Leonard Vole in Witness for the Prosecution.
