We are delighted to reveal that Dee Denehan is to play the role of Gwendolen Fairfax, the cynical socialite daughter of the formidable Lady Bracknell in our upcoming production of The Importance of Being Earnest.
Gwendolen must have the perfect proposal performed in the correct manner and must marry a man named Ernest simply because of the name's connotations – and thereby lies the impetus for much of the fun and misunderstandings that abound in Oscar Wilde’s best loved play.
Dee returned to acting last year taking the role of Dick Whittington’s talking cat in a panto production for the Open Theatre Group and Tread the Boards.
She is looking forward to the July shows at the Arches. “The steam punk theme gives the play a different twist for a Victorian woman who spends her time sparring with words and escaping her elders in order to indulge in a little flirting,” she said.
