"It is awfully hard work doing nothing. However, I don’t mind hard work where there is no definite object of any kind"

Algernon Moncrieff
Ben Dards

Selfish, idle and yet irresistibly charming Algernon Moncrieff is to be played by Ben Dards who etc audiences saw as Bottom in our last Arches production, A Midsummer Night\'s Dream.

Nephew of the infamous Lady Bracknell and cousin of Gwendolen Fairfax, Algernon is witty, urbane but devious and scheming.

“The role offers a fantastic combination of character traits to portray,” said Ben. “Algy even invents an invalid friend in order to wriggle out of dull social obligations which just adds another layer of confusion to the plot.”

Ben returned to acting just three years ago and has since contributed to short films, audio plays, murder mysteries, comedies, drama, and most recently was Dick Whittington in pantomime at the Open University.

Tickets are already selling swiftly.
