On sale for just a couple of weeks and tickets for our summer production “The Importance of Being Earnest” have been selling fast.
“It is such a well-loved comedy with some hilarious characters so we knew it would be popular,” said director Steve Brigden. “But I think an outdoor setting with the twist of steam punk adds that extra something to pique the interest”
The Oscar Wilde classic offers wit, confusions and misunderstandings and the etc production will lose none of the fast-paced wars of words in the alternative setting.
“Works of writers from the end of the 19th century, such as those of Robert Louis Stevenson, G. K. Chesterton and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle are among the most influential for steam punk fashion but we could see an excellent fit for Wilde’s Earnest,” added Steve.
Members of the audience are invited to dress up to reflect the post apocalyptic Victoriana if they wish.
With almost one in five tickets already sold in 20 days this looks like being a sell-out show.
